Print Area & Coverage
STANDARDAlso: print area, wrap width, decoration area
The printable zone on a bottle, quoted as height by wrap width, where full wrap means the entire circumference is covered.
Print area is quoted as two dimensions: height and wrap width. The wrap width is how far the artwork extends around the bottle, and full wrap means it covers the entire circumference with the design meeting at the back seam.
Artwork must account for curvature near the edges. As the design approaches the sides of the print area, the curved surface compresses detail, so text and logos should sit within a safe zone that is slightly smaller than the quoted dimensions.
A larger print area generally means more setup and registration work, but it does not always mean more cost. A simple solid logo spread across a wider area may cost little more than a small one, while a complex full-wrap photographic design involves a different method entirely.
Practical takeaway: Confirm the height and wrap width with your supplier and keep key artwork inside the safe zone to avoid distortion at the curved edges.
