MOQ

STANDARD

Also: minimum order quantity

MOQ is the minimum order quantity a factory will accept, usually quoted per SKU and per color.

MOQ (minimum order quantity) is the smallest order a factory will accept for a given product. It is usually quoted per SKU and per color, not as a single number for the whole container.

MOQs exist for practical reasons. Each color is mixed and sprayed in batches, each changeover between models or colors costs machine time, and custom packaging has its own printing minimums. These fixed costs are what make small runs uneconomical.

The quoted MOQ is rarely absolute. A buyer who takes stock colors and standard lids will usually get a lower MOQ than one who specifies a custom powder color and a custom mold. Trade scope is the real lever: the more you standardize, the more the number can move.

When you compare factories, ask for the MOQ per SKU, per color, and per lid type rather than accepting one headline figure, then confirm what happens when you split an order across colors.

Practical takeaway: Treat MOQ as a starting point for negotiation, and reduce it by sticking to stock colors and standard lids.
