Embossing & Debossing

STANDARD

Also: embossing, debossing, 3D embossing

A decoration method that forms a raised or recessed logo directly in the metal itself, requiring a custom tooling die.

Embossing raises a logo above the surrounding surface, while debossing presses it in below. Both are formed in the metal itself rather than printed on top, which gives the mark a premium tactile quality that flat printing cannot match.

The process requires custom tooling dies shaped to your logo, so there is an upfront tooling cost and a lead time before the first production run. Once the dies exist, the mark is permanent, since there is nothing applied to the surface that could rub off.

This method works best on stainless drinkware where the metal wall is thick enough to hold a clean raised or recessed impression. It suits brand names, monograms, and simple geometric marks, while very fine detail can be lost in the forming step.

Practical takeaway: Use embossing or debossing when you want a permanent, tactile metal logo and are prepared for the tooling die cost and lead time.
