Colorfastness & Dishwasher-Safe Printing
STANDARDAlso: colorfastness, dishwasher-safe printing, wash durability
How well print survives washing and handling, which depends on method, coating, and cure quality rather than a dishwasher-safe label.
Colorfastness describes how well the printed design keeps its color through washing, handling, and daily use. On drinkware, the question buyers ask most often is whether the print survives the dishwasher, and the honest answer is that no single phrase settles it.
Silk-screen prints cured onto powder coat tend to be very durable, while heat-transfer wraps can be slightly more wear-prone on some coatings. The coating and cure quality matter as much as the method: a poorly cured screen print can fail sooner than a well-applied transfer.
Because no decoration lasts forever, many premium coated bottles recommend hand-washing to maximize print life. If your customer expects dishwasher use, state it early so the factory can choose a method and cure process suited to that condition and validate it with a sample.
Practical takeaway: Treat “dishwasher-safe printing” as a claim to verify on your exact method and coating with a tested sample, not as an automatic guarantee.
